Use of Adverb "too" "very" "very much" and its Exercise
Use of "too"Too ? (more than enough)Too is mostly use with
negative or undesirability sense, so it must not be used in the place of ?very? or ?much? otherwise the sense will be completely wrong
for example
if we say I m too happy with your progress,( this mean I m this much of happy that I shouldn?t be)
for example this kind of uses with adverb ? too? are wrong ..
- You are too kind to me.
- She is too beautiful.
- He is too intelligent.
- You are too faithful to me.
And these sentences are right
- The day is too hot.
- The price is too high for me.
- This house is too small for my family.
- She is too weak.
- This is too much for me to bear.
So ?too? is always used with negative sense.
The sense of adverb ?too? will be also negative if ?too? comes with infinitive
for example ---
- She is too poor to buy a new books.
- The issue is too hard to solve.
- The memories of him are too strong to be overcome easily.
"Very" and"very much"
"Very" with present participle (ing)
- It was very surprising.
- The show was very exciting.
- She was looking very stunning.
- The boy was running very quickly.
"Much" with past participle
- He was much surprised.
- I was much confused.
- He talks much.
- He drinks much.
But there some past participle they must be come with adverb ?very? like
- I m very pleased to see you here.
- It was very tired at the end journey.
- There is one more big difference in use of both adverb ? very? and ? much? is that "very" is used before the positive degree and the "much" is used before the comparative degree of the adverb or adjective ?for example
- Savya?s house is much bigger than her friend.
- She is much more trustworthy than her.
- You can get much better opportunity than this.
- I am very interested.
- She is very nice in dancing.
- My father is very humble.
- He is very poor.
In comparative degree we can add " very" with " much"
but not "much" in positive degree
"Very" and "much" both can be used with superlative degree
and "much" will come before ?the" and "very" after ?the ?
- H e is much the best boy of the class.
- He is much the richest man of the city.
- Cow is the very gentlest animal.
- This is the very best book available here.
Much and very much
"Very much" is used with verb in affirmative sentence, but "much" is come with negative sentence "very much" doesn?t come in negative sentence
- I like him very much.
- I don?t like him much.
