Share and share I like!

Over recent days I found that I had more time than usual to skim through tweets looking for interesting stuff. It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to do so! I was on holiday, a long weekend, but I found that whilst travelling I could browse, RT and save stuff efficiently to Evernote using my Android smartphone.

I considered the fact that this was all private, saved on a platform just for me and I began thinking about how I could share useful stuff as well as save it for my own personal use. I tend to bookmark a lot and don't always get the chance to return to try things or read full articles or blogs, so I didn't want to try to share everything I find interesting, other than by retreating, perhaps. I have decided to focus on educational technology for the ELT classroom, in terms of this little sharing project.

As a result, I have decided to return to a hibernating Posterous blog, which has been neglected for a long time, and I've also set up a Facebook page. What I am doing now is sharing links about educational technology that I feel are relevant to English language teachers. The Facebook page allows for discussion and further sharing and hopefully also provides a platform for a community of interested teachers. Meanwhile the Posterous page will contain all the posts as an archive which I think will be more robust and searchable than Facebook as I intend to tag the posts well (let me know how that's going!).  I can share to Posterous from my phone or directly from an app on my desktop, it's incredibly flexible. When I share something via Posterous it will automatically be posted on the Facebook page and also sent to Twitter. This seems to me to be remarkably efficient!

I hope this is of use to some people out there. It is useful enough for myself, but it's nice to collaborate with other people as well.

One thing I have thought about is the fact that this 'exposes' my personal Facebook account. I offer my apologies in advance to people who try (or have tried) to 'friend' me and don't receive (or haven't received) a response. My Facebook account is fairly private and although I do have some ELT contacts on there, they tend only to be people I've actually met in 'real life'; at the moment this is how I want it to be.

Thanks for reading!
